Below are the water temps as measured on 7/5/12, mid-day, at Hales Ford Bridge. It was a continued hot weekend and there were surface temps measured at 85 in Bulls Run & the Roanoke at 85 on the mornings of 7/5 and 7/7, and by late afternoon on the 8th there were surface temps up above 90. Keep these hot temperatures in mind with your fishing - that surface layer is tough on the fish - fight them quick, get them up and out of that layer and back down FAST is you are releasing.....
Also, the thermocline is starting to set up further up the lake - reports of trouble keeping bait alive deeper are showing up. We'll see if we can get some better info on the thermocline depth and locations in future reports.... If anyone out there has a DO meter and would like to contribute to the cause by collecting DO readings, that would be VERY interesting.
