December 2012

Well, this is really happening. Our 2012 year ends soon and I am stepping down as both your President and Bulletin Editor. It is time for me to take the time to stop talking and writing about fishing for Stripers and finally take the time to get out there and do it. My biggest hope is that I made some sort of difference with the Striper Club. For me it has been quite a journey. One of the most significant results I can think of is that I had the chance to work and know our members. What a great group you are. I am proud to have had this  opportunity. Thank you.

One lesson I did learn is that this job can be difficult if you do not have the support of you, our members and our Board leaders (which I did have by the way). I now appreciate more then ever, the work done by our previous President, Roy Sammons. And I never thanked him enough for his efforts in 2010. So Roy, this is your formal acknowledgement of the hard work you put in with the club as our President.

It is sort of sad to have to have prepared the first sheet of the bulletin where I had to announce that this is the last issue of our Bulletin in this format and one issued on a monthly basis. After three years, as I said above, it is time to move on. Cross your fingers and wish or hope someone does step up and volunteer to give it a try. But at least we are not going to leave our general members and business members high and dry (no pun intended if you think of our lake levels lately). We are continuing to work on our website thanks to Mike Ward’s hard work and for awhile, Mike and I wil l try and issue newsletters on an undefined schedule. But for sure, you can expect something from us in January as there are many announcements that have to get out to al l our members for the new year.

In a few weeks, your Board will elect your new President. Who ever that is, we all need to give him the highest level of support possible.

And in closing, please pay particular attention to the subject matter for our January 2013 General Membership Meeting. If you have any views or opinions on how our 2013 Striper Tournaments should be held and run, now is you chance to speak up. The one thing that would be unfortunate to hear in the future is that “I did not choose to fish the tournaments because …………………(you fill in the blanks).”

This is where I sign off.
Bob
